Dear Leigh Stationers’ Academy Community,
Welcome back to the start of Module 3. It has been wonderful to see our students return rested, rejuvenated, and ready to tackle the challenges and opportunities this new module presents. This week, we have focused on important themes of safety, academic progress, and future planning. During tutor time PSHE sessions, students engaged in sensitive discussions about the dangers of knife crime, reflecting on its impact and the importance of making safe and positive choices. This session followed recent incidents in the local area and aimed to provide students with knowledge and reassurance. A letter was sent to parents and carers to outline our ongoing commitment to student safety and to share resources that can offer further support during this time.
Looking ahead, we have an exciting and important calendar of events. Year 11 and Year 13 students will receive their mock examination results at dedicated events on Thursday, 16 January 2025, providing valuable insights as they prepare for their summer exams. The Year 13 Parents’ Evening on Wednesday, 22 January 2025, offers another key opportunity for families to engage with teachers and discuss academic progress. Careers support initiatives, including one-to-one meetings and virtual interviews as part of National Interview Month, will ensure students are equipped with the skills and confidence needed for their next steps. I encourage all parents and carers to stay connected and engaged as we continue to prioritise leadership, scholarship, and achievement across the academy.
Best wishes,
Mr Joseph Sparks | Principal, Leigh Stationers’ Academy
Commitment to Student Safety
Leigh Stationers’ Academy has reinforced its commitment to student safety following recent knife incidents in the local area. A letter sent to parents and carers today (Friday, 10 January 2025) outlines the academy’s response and provides resources to support students and families.
This morning, during their tutor time PSHE session, students engaged in discussions about the dangers of knife crime. The session covered legal implications, personal risks, and the importance of making positive choices. The academy also shared safeguarding resources, such as Childline (0800 1111) and Fearless.org, to offer confidential advice and reporting options for students and families.
“Our priority is to ensure every student feels safe and supported, both in school and within the wider community,” said Mr Spark, Assistant Principal and Designated Safeguarding Lead. “By working together, we can guide students to make informed, positive decisions and help create a safer environment for all.”
Year 11 and Year 13 Mock Examination Results Evenings
Leigh Stationers’ Academy will host Mock Examination Results Evenings for Year 11 and Year 13 on Thursday, 16 January 2025. Letters with full details were sent to parents and carers on Wednesday, 10 January 2025, and can also be accessed below:
“This event is a key milestone in our students’ academic journey,” said Mr Flower, Head of Hansard College. “It allows them to reflect on their progress so far and provides a valuable insight into what to expect in the summer. It’s also an important opportunity to identify areas for further improvement and ensure they are fully prepared for their final examinations.” Parents/carers and students are encouraged to attend these significant evenings, which mark an essential part of the academic calendar.
