This week at Stationers’ Crown Woods Academy, we celebrated the conclusion of our Year 11 and 13 public examinations, marking significant academic milestones. The dedication displayed by our students throughout this challenging period exemplifies the scholarship we strive to cultivate. Additionally, the vibrant Intra School Rounders competition showcased exemplary teamwork and sportsmanship among our younger students, highlighting the value of fellowship within our community.

Looking ahead, we are excited for the ‘Classics to Pop’ Summer Music Concert, an opportunity for our students to demonstrate their musical talents and leadership skills. Meanwhile, our Year 10 and 12 pupils continue their mock examinations. Their approach during this period has been exemplary, and we wish them all the best in their upcoming assessments.

Year 11 and 13 Pupils Complete Public Examinations at SCWA

This week marked the conclusion of the public examinations at Stationers’ Crown Woods Academy, with Year 11 and 13 pupils finishing their final examinations in A-Level Chemistry and Further Mathematics today. Mr Sparks, Principal of SCWA, commended the students: “We would like to congratulate all our Year 11 and 13 pupils for their hard work, dedication, and exemplary conduct during the examination period. We eagerly anticipate celebrating their achievements on the upcoming results days in August.”

Classics to Pop: Summer Music Concert at SCWA

We are delighted to announce that Stationers’ Crown Woods Academy’s annual Summer Music Concert, “Classics to Pop,” will take place on Wednesday, 26 June 2024, from 18:00 to 20:00 in the School Hall of the Crown Building. This event offers a fantastic platform for our students to display their musical talents and the hard work they have put in throughout the year.

Event Details:

  • Date: Wednesday, 26th June 2024
  • Time: 18:00 – 20:00 (Doors open at 17:30)
  • Location: School Hall, Crown Building

Mr. Yeates, Director of Performing Arts, shared his enthusiasm for the upcoming concert: “Our students have been busy preparing for this concert, and we are confident it will be an evening filled with memorable performances. The programme will showcase a diverse array of musical styles, from classical pieces to contemporary hits, featuring performances by our Year 7 choir, various rock bands, and several talented solo acts.”

For parents and carers of students participating in the concert, detailed arrangements and information have already been sent directly via email. Those parents have been given priority access to tickets. We are pleased to announce that a small number of additional tickets are available for the concert. These tickets are free and will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. To request a ticket, please fill out the following Google Form, and a member of our team will follow up with you next week to confirm the details.

SCWA Hosts Successful Intra Rounders Tournament for Years 7 & 8 Girls

On Tuesday, 19 June 2024, Stationers’ Crown Woods Academy held its first Intra School Rounders competition of the season for Years 7 and 8.

Years 7 and 8 girls participate in an Intra Rounders Tournament being held at SCWA.

Year 7 Competition Results: The tight competition saw each team win and lose one game, with the final standings determined by the total rounders scored. Sherwood secured first place with 10 rounders, followed by Ashdown with 9, and Delamere with 6½. The players’ commitment and skill were highly praised by the umpire, Ms Melia.

Year 8 Competition Overview: With Ashdown unable to field a team, Delamere and Sherwood competed directly. Delamere batted first, scoring a strong 4 rounders. Sherwood, demonstrating strategic play and consistent scoring, narrowly won with 5 rounders. Ms Blayney commended both teams for their excellent application of tactics learned during lessons.

Uniform Suppliers Update for SCWA

Stationers’ Crown Woods Academy works with two dedicated uniform suppliers: JK Clothing and Brigade. Brigade has published useful information for parents/carers on ordering school uniforms, selecting the correct sizes, and washing/care instructions. Reminder: Mock Examinations Update for Year 10

Next week, Year 10 students at Stationers’ Crown Woods Academy will continue their mock examinations. The full mock examination schedule can be found here.

Morning examinations will start at 08:45, with pupils required to register in the courtyard from 08:30. Afternoon exams will commence at 13:15, with registration starting at 13:05 unless otherwise specified on the timetable.

To further support our students, we are offering a series of after-school revision booster and pre-examination warm-up sessions. These are designed to provide last-minute hints and tips for success, and attendance is expected for all pupils. The full schedule for these sessions can be found here.

Reminder: Mock Examinations Update for Year 12

The Year 12 mock examination period will continue next week. To ensure our students are fully prepared, we will be conducting a series of warm-up sessions prior to each examination. These sessions are designed to provide focused revision activities and essential reminders.

Warm-Up Session Schedule:

  • Morning Examinations: Warm-up sessions will run from 07:45 to 08:30 for all morning examinations. Examinations will start at 08:45 each morning. Students will be registered in the quad prior to each examination.
  • Afternoon Examinations: Warm-up sessions will take place from 13:15 to 14:15 for all afternoon examinations scheduled for the following day. Examinations will start at 13:15 each afternoon. Students will also be registered in the quad prior to each examination.

Daily School Attendance: Normal Year 12 lessons will continue throughout the examination period, and all students are expected to attend school every day, regardless of whether they have an examination. These lessons will provide valuable revision opportunities. For subjects that do not have mock examinations, students will attend the Academy and follow their normal timetable as usual.

Reminder: Year 12 Parents’ Evening

Stationers’ Crown Woods Academy is set to host the Year 12 Parents’ Evening on Thursday, 27 June 2024, from 16:00 to 19:00. This face-to-face event provides a platform for parents and carers to discuss their child’s academic progress with teachers. The appointment booking system is now live and will remain available until 12:00 on Wednesday, 26 June 2024. Parents and carers are encouraged to book early to secure their preferred times. Appointments can be made by visiting the academy’s designated booking site. Detailed instructions and a guide for booking are available on the school’s website.
