LSA Latest News Updates | Friday, 24 January 2025

Dear Leigh Stationers’ Academy Community,

This week has been a fantastic one at Leigh Stationers’ Academy, highlighting our commitment to leadership, scholarship, and achievement. We were thrilled to see such a strong turnout at the Year 13 Parents’ Evening, where families worked closely with teachers to support preparations for summer exams. Our Year 10 and Year 12 Business students enjoyed a valuable trip to the Cadbury factory, where they connected classroom learning to real-world business concepts. Students also celebrated earning their bronze enrichment pathway awards across STEM, Leadership, Scholarship, Creative, Sports, and Community pathways, proudly wearing their badges as recognition of their hard work and determination.

Looking ahead, we’re excited to host our next coffee morning on Monday, 3 February 2025, which will focus on digital literacy and keeping children safe online. Our new boxing mentoring programme for KS3 students is already making a positive impact, and we’re eager to see even more students benefit from this unique initiative. With upcoming parents’ evenings and further opportunities for engagement, there’s plenty to look forward to as we continue working together to support our students’ success.

Best wishes,
Mr Joseph Sparks | Principal, Leigh Stationers’ Academy

Local Boxing Mentoring & Training Initiative at Leigh Stationers’ Academy

Leigh Stationers’ Academy is pleased to announce a new wellbeing initiative for KS3 students in partnership with local boxing expert Kareem from KM Fitness. Kareem will visit the academy weekly to provide mentoring and training sessions, combining the discipline of boxing with personal development and emotional wellbeing.

The programme aims to help students build confidence, develop resilience, and learn valuable techniques for managing stress. By engaging in this initiative, students will not only benefit from physical activity but also gain essential life skills that support their personal growth.

“We’re thrilled to offer this unique opportunity to our students,” said Mr Farr, Vice Principal (pictured below). “The combination of physical training and mentoring is an excellent way to promote wellbeing while helping students develop vital skills for their futures. It’s a chance for them (and me) to enjoy themselves and thrive.”

Year 10 & 12 Business Students Visit the Cadbury Factory

On Friday, 17 January 2025, a group of Year 10 and Year 12 Business students travelled to Birmingham to visit the iconic Cadbury factory. The day provided an engaging opportunity for students to deepen their understanding of business concepts while exploring one of the world’s most beloved chocolate brands.

The trip began with a lecture on the globalisation of Cadbury. Students learned about the company’s growth, its key stakeholders, the competitive landscape, and the importance of ethical business practices. The session concluded with an open Q&A, where students had the opportunity to ask detailed questions about the company’s operations and global impact. The group also explored Cadbury’s history and its remarkable growth over the years. A guided tour of the factory offered students the chance to observe the intricate chocolate manufacturing process and understand how promotional strategies have evolved over time to maintain Cadbury’s strong market position.

“This trip provided students with a practical perspective on key business concepts, bringing classroom learning to life in an engaging and memorable way,” said Mr Sandhu, Lead Practitioner for Business Studies. “It was a day filled with valuable insights, inspiration, and, of course, a little chocolate!”
