Leigh Stationers’ Academy is celebrating its best Year 13 results in four years, achieved by one of the largest cohorts in the academy’s history and across the widest range of subjects yet offered, spanning A Levels, BTECs and T Levels.
At A Level, 16% of grades were A or A*, the highest proportion the academy has ever recorded and double last year’s figure. The proportion of grades at B and above has risen from around a third to approaching a half, and the overall pass rate has increased from 96% last year to 98% this year. Over 50% of BTEC results were awarded at the top grades of Distinction and Distinction Star.
Ben Russell, Principal of Leigh Stationers’ Academy, said: “These results are a testament to the high-quality teaching, strong pastoral care and rich personal development offer that we pride ourselves on at Leigh Stationers’ Academy. They reflect the leadership, scholarship and achievement that our students show every day, values that sit at the heart of everything we do. We are enormously proud of our Year 13 students and grateful to the staff who have supported them throughout their time with us. Their results, and the destinations they are now moving on to, show real ambition, and I know they will go on to achieve great things.”
Many students achieved truly exceptional results, including:
- Toyin – achieved a Distinction* in T Level finance
- Inez – A* English language, A* psychology and A* sociology
- Julia – A* psychology, A* sociology and A in biology
- Jack – A* economics, A* politics and B in geography

- Tracy – A* mathematics, A chemistry and A biology
- Isabel – A history, A politics and A psychology

These excellent results have seen our students secure a fantastic array of post-18 destinations. They are heading to many of the country’s leading universities, including Bath, Bournemouth, Exeter, Greenwich, Kent, King’s College London, Leeds, Leicester, Lincoln, Liverpool, Loughborough, Manchester, Newcastle, Nottingham, Queen Mary University of London, Reading, Sheffield, Southampton, UCL, and York—with several students becoming the first in their families to progress to higher education. Notably, 15% of the cohort will be attending Russell Group universities, a figure well above the national average. Furthermore, several students have secured degree apprenticeships with industry leaders such as KPMG, Grant Thornton, and Bloomberg.
Their chosen fields of study are as impressive as they are varied, spanning media production, aerospace, English, psychology, architecture, politics, law, nursing, cybersecurity, pharmacy, teaching, and engineering. Additionally, our students—particularly our graduating T Level cohort—are pursuing highly sought-after apprenticeships in accounting, AI, robotics, mechanical engineering, and business management, clearly demonstrating the breadth of ambition across our student body.
