Equiano College Celebrates Success in End-of-Module Assembly
Equiano College marked the end of another successful module recognising student achievements in attendance, reading, merits, and leadership.
Outstanding Attendance Achievements
Equiano pupils demonstrated a strong commitment to attendance, with specifically Y8 EQU1 pupils leading the way at 95% attendance.
Top Readers Recognised
Students’ dedication to reading was highlighted through their Sparx reader points, with EQU being the leading tutor group so far this academic year. Special recognition was given to the leading reader in each tutor group:
- 3EQU1 – Kayla F
- 4EQU1 – Charlie B
A special shout-out goes out to Charlie B, who is our leading reader in the college with 8,171 Sparx Reader Points so far this year!
Equiano College Leadership Awards
The assembly also celebrated students who embodied key IB Learner Profile attributes. Teachers from Equiano College recognised students for characteristics such as being principled, reflective, and caring.
- Riccardo C (3EQU1) nominated by Ms Bartlett: Riccardo has pushed himself academically this term, taking risks to undertake work at a far greater depth than usual.
- Jack G (3EQU1) nominated by Ms Gould: Jack has shown great improvement this module, having reflected on his behaviour and taking positive steps to be a more balanced learner.
- Rakan R (4EQU2) nominated by Mrs Draper: Rakan has embraced year 11 with a sense of dignity and maturity. He is motivated in his learning and has proved to be an excellent role model for younger students.
The Head of College Award recognises a pupil who has demonstrated exceptional commitment, positive behaviour, and contribution to their college community. This term, the award goes to Riccardo for his attitude to learning.
Mrs Bartlett, SENCO, praised Riccardo’s achievements, saying:
