Pupil Premium

The Pupil Premium is additional funding provided by the Department for Education (DfE) to improve educational outcomes for disadvantaged pupils. According to the DfE:

“Pupil premium is funding to improve education outcomes for disadvantaged pupils in schools in England. Evidence shows that disadvantaged children generally face extra challenges in reaching their potential at school and often do not perform as well as other pupils.”
— Department for Education, 2024

At Leigh Stationers’ Academy, we use this funding to help fulfil our vision of being a community where no student is left behind. We are committed to ensuring that every student is known, valued, and supported, and that no young person is held back by financial or social disadvantage.

Our 2024/25 Pupil Premium Strategy is rooted in evidence-based practice, drawing on research from the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF). It outlines how we address the complex barriers our disadvantaged pupils may face—including challenges in literacy, numeracy, wellbeing, attendance, and engagement. Through targeted interventions, high-quality teaching, and inclusive pastoral care, we aim to close the attainment gap and provide every child with the opportunity to thrive.
