Dear SCWA Community,
This week at Stationers’ Crown Woods Academy, we have celebrated a series of events, each aligning with our core values of scholarship, fellowship, and leadership.
We have been delighted to share a new video highlighting the successes of our T-Level courses in Digital Design and Finance, reflecting our commitment to providing students with vital, industry-relevant skills for their future careers. Additionally, the SCWA Student Council meeting showcased our students’ leadership capabilities, where they presented innovative ideas aimed at enhancing our school community. Furthermore, the introduction of a mentoring program with The Stationers’ Company for our Year 12 students exemplifies leadership development, offering them invaluable insights and guidance from experienced professionals.
Looking ahead to next week, we have the Mock Examination Results Evening for Year 11 and Year 13. This event is crucial for preparing our students for the actual results day in August, giving them a sense of the atmosphere and the significance of that day. Additionally, our Year 12 students will have the opportunity to participate in an NHS Careers and Employability event. This is an excellent platform for them to explore various career paths within the health service, emphasising our focus on leadership and career readiness.
Each of these initiatives underscores our dedication to fostering an environment where scholarship, fellowship, and leadership are not just taught but lived daily, preparing our students for the challenges and opportunities ahead.
Best wishes,
Joseph Sparks | Principal, Stationers’ Crown Woods Academy

Year 12 Students at SCWA Embark on Mentoring Opportunity with The Stationers’ Company
Stationers’ Crown Woods Academy has introduced a mentoring opportunity for Year 12 students, pairing them with members of The Stationers’ Company for the duration of their time in Arden Sixth Form. The inaugural virtual meeting between 20 Year 12 students and 16 Stationers took place on the morning of Thursday, 11th January.
During this initial session, students engaged with successful professionals, discussing various career paths and their own future aspirations. The event was met with great success, with the Stationers commending the students for their professionalism. Notably, many meaningful connections were formed, laying the foundation for future mentoring sessions.
Ms Collier, Head of Arden, expressed her enthusiasm for the mentoring program: “This initiative with The Stationers’ Company offers our Year 12 students a unique and invaluable opportunity to gain insights and guidance from experienced professionals in various fields. It’s a chance for them to learn from those who have already achieved success and to receive ongoing support as they explore their own academic and career paths. We are immensely grateful to The Stationers’ Company for their ongoing support and commitment to our students’ futures. Their involvement is making a significant difference in our students’ lives, and we can’t thank them enough for this opportunity.”
Productive Discussions at SCWA Student Council Meeting

The members of the Student Council were notably well-prepared for the meeting, demonstrating their commitment to effectively representing their peers. Mr Duran, Assistant Principal, commented on the recent Student Council meeting: “The latest Student Council meeting was a testament to the innovative thinking of our students. They came up with a range of creative ideas that they plan to present to the Senior Leadership Team. We’re looking forward to discussing these ideas further and exploring their potential integration into the academy. It’s clear evidence of their active and constructive role in driving the continuous development of our school.”
GCSE Heritage Languages Opportunity at SCWA
Stationers’ Crown Woods Academy is pleased to offer students the chance to undertake GCSEs in Heritage Languages in Years 10 and 11. Currently, the academy provides a diverse range of languages, including Punjabi, Chinese, Modern Hebrew, Urdu, Bengali, German, Italian, Polish, Spanish, French, Russian, Arabic, Greek, Japanese, Portuguese, Persian, and Turkish.
It’s important to note that the GCSE examination comprises listening, reading, speaking, and writing components. To ensure the course is beneficial, students should be proficient in all four aspects of the language.
Parents who wish for their child, who fluently speaks any of the listed languages, to take the examination should complete the following Google Form by Friday, 19 January 2024. This presents a valuable opportunity for multilingual students to gain formal recognition of their language skills.
