Dear Leigh Stationers’ Academy Community,
It has been a fantastic start to the new academic year at Leigh Stationers’ Academy. Pupils across all year groups have returned with enthusiasm, looking exceptionally smart under our new uniform expectations and showing a positive commitment to their learning. Attendance in the opening week was outstanding at 96.5%, reflecting the strong sense of purpose across the academy. From Year 7 pupils settling quickly into secondary school life to the 150 new Year 12 students beginning their sixth form journey, our community has made an excellent start to Module 1.
Looking ahead, there is much to be excited about. We look forward to meeting with Year 11 parents and carers at next week’s Parents’ Information Evening, as well as supporting pupils as they attend the Futures Fair at Woolwich Works. Year 13 students and families will join our Information and Destinations Webinar, providing vital guidance for the year ahead. In addition, opportunities to develop beyond the classroom are flourishing, from instrumental music tuition to our broad PSHE curriculum. With key events such as Open Evenings, Photo Days and the Year 7 Meet the Tutor Evening on the horizon, the coming weeks promise to be both busy and rewarding for our academy community.
Best wishes,
Mr Joseph Sparks | Principal, Leigh Stationers’ Academy

PSHE Update: Supporting Personal Development Across Years 7-13
In Module 1, Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) education at Leigh Stationers’ Academy focuses on themes that support pupils’ wellbeing, personal growth and preparation for life beyond the classroom. Sessions are designed to encourage collaboration, critical thinking and the development of key life skills.
This week’s topics include:
- Year 7: Pupils are introduced to the IB Learner Profile traits, with a focus on being reflective, effective communicators and open-minded. These sessions help students understand how these qualities shape their learning and relationships.
- Years 8–13: Pupils are exploring the question “How will I succeed as a resilient learner this year?”. Younger year groups are considering strategies for managing challenges in the classroom, while older students are looking at resilience in the context of examinations, independent study and preparing for future pathways.
Parents and carers are encouraged to continue these conversations at home, discussing ideas and examples to help reinforce pupils’ understanding of these important topics.
