Dear Leigh Stationers’ Academy Community,
It has been a fantastic week at Leigh Stationers’ Academy. Over 200 pupils acted as ambassadors during our Year 6 Open Events, welcoming more than 3,000 visitors to the academy with confidence and pride. We also celebrated the promotions of three of our CCF cadets, saw our Year 11 pupils making the most of the Greenwich Futures Fair, and applauded the U15 girls’ football team as they began their season with an impressive 9–0 win.
Looking ahead, we are excited to welcome Year 7 families to our Meet the Tutor Evening on Wednesday, which will also include a series of workshops to support pupils’ wider development. Bookings for the Year 8 Parents’ Evening open on Friday, and School Photo Day takes place on Monday and Tuesday. Thank you, as always, for your continued support — together we ensure that no student is left behind.
Best wishes,
Mr Joseph Sparks | Principal, Leigh Stationers’ Academy
Over 3,000 Visitors Attend Year 6 Open Events at Leigh Stationers’ Academy
Leigh Stationers’ Academy welcomed record numbers of visitors this week as more than 3,000 parents and carers attended the Year 6 Open Events. On Tuesday, 16 September 2025, over 1,500 families joined the academy’s Open Evening, followed by three consecutive Open Mornings where a further 500 visitors attended each day to see the academy in action.
The events were supported by over 200 pupils, who took on roles as tour guides and subject ambassadors. Their enthusiasm, professionalism and pride in their school received glowing feedback from families, who praised the warm and welcoming atmosphere throughout the academy.
Parents and carers also heard from the Principal, who outlined the academy’s vision of a community where no student is left behind and shared how exceptional teaching, support and opportunities enable pupils to thrive at LSA.
Mr Sparks, Principal, said: “I was immensely proud to see so many of our pupils stepping up to represent the academy. The feedback from families has been overwhelmingly positive, and it is clear that our young people are the best ambassadors we could ask for.”
Cadets from Leigh Stationers’ Academy Step Up to New Ranks
Three members of Leigh Stationers’ Academy’s Combined Cadet Force (CCF) have been recognised for their commitment and leadership with well-deserved promotions.
Henry and Harley were promoted from Cadet to Lance Corporal, the first step on the CCF’s promotion ladder. Connor, who was already serving as a Lance Corporal, has advanced to the rank of Corporal.
All three will now be trained and developed as instructors for new cadets, teaching topics such as field craft, tactics, navigation skills, drill and turnout, and camp craft skills. This new responsibility will further strengthen the contingent while supporting the cadets’ own leadership development.
Major Wilson said: “These promotions are a reflection of the dedication and maturity shown by Henry, Harley and Connor. They have worked hard to earn this recognition, and I am confident they will continue to set an excellent example for younger cadets.” If your child is interested in joining the CCF, please contact Major Wilson for more information via email at jeremy.wilson@stationers.latrust.org.uk

Year 11 Futures Fair at Woolwich Works
On Tuesday, 16 September 2025, all Year 11 pupils attended the Royal Borough of Greenwich’s Futures Fair at Woolwich Works. The event gave pupils the chance to explore a wide range of post-16 pathways and meet directly with apprenticeship providers, universities, colleges and training organisations.
Apprenticeship providers included Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust, Berkeley Group, Lovell, LSEC Apprenticeships, Transport for London and the Royal Navy’s Submarine Team. Pupils also spoke with representatives from Ravensbourne, the University of Greenwich and Goldsmiths University about higher education opportunities. Specialist training providers such as the Internship Programme for young people with SEND and Flower Skills’ Build a Future in Construction initiative were also on hand. The academy’s own Woolf College stand proved particularly popular with pupils.
Mr Smith, Vice Principal, said: “The Futures Fair was a fantastic opportunity for our Year 11 pupils to gain a real insight into the wide range of options available after GCSEs. They asked thoughtful questions, collected valuable information to help shape their next steps, and represented the academy with real maturity. Several members of the public even commented on how polite and well-mannered our pupils were on public transport, which was wonderful to hear.”
All Year 11 pupils will now have a one-to-one careers meeting with the academy’s dedicated careers adviser to further explore their options. Information about upcoming open evenings and events will also be shared with pupils in the coming weeks.
