The course consists of 7 Core Modules

  • The Legal System

  • The Law of Tort
  • The Nature of Law
  • Human Rights Law
  • The Law of Contract

Each core module contains specific topic areas. Eg, Criminal law , students will study murder, manslaughter, non-fatal offences etc.  The central focus of this specification is taught and examined in three equally weighted papers. Each paper contains topics within the core modules.

Intent

The Intent for the Law Curriculum is to ensure that our young Lawyers are equipped with the necessary legal knowledge, skills and vocabulary to enable them to develop a better understanding of the English legal system, the Rule of Law, including Criminal Law, Civil Law and Human Rights Law.   The curriculum helps our students to develop a better understanding of themselves and the workplace and how law applies in everyday life.  This is done through quality teaching which ensures students understand and acquire the core legal concepts and can apply these concepts in a variety of familiar and unfamiliar contexts.The aim is for students to think independently,  and develop curiosity around the English Legal System, as well as develop problem-solving skills and think analytically to reach logical conclusions based on legal evidence, and develop knowledge of how the law interrelate both nationally and internationally.

The implementation of the curriculum content ensures that all students are active  and independent learners being taught by staff with strong subject knowledge. The focus will be that subject knowledge is the key focus in all lessons alongside key examination skills. Teachers will focus on developing student’s’ reading, writing and oracy in law lessons. Assessment will be given several times throughout each year to ensure that students are challenged and gaps in their knowledge are addressed. Constructive feedback is then be given to students  to ensure excellent progress is made.

The Law curriculum will make a positive impact on a student’s education due to the high level of teaching standard i;n every lesson. This will be measured on a daily basis in various ways. For example
