Dear Leigh Stationers’ Academy Community,
It has been a standout week at Leigh Stationers’ Academy, from a historic Kent Cup win to the arrival of a brand new baby grand piano. We have celebrated a major sporting achievement as our girls’ football team became the first Leigh Academies Trust school to win the Kent Cup, while also welcoming an exciting new addition to the Crown Building through the generous support of The Stationers’ Company. Alongside this, our Sixth Form students benefited from a powerful theatre visit to the Young Vic, and it was a pleasure to welcome so many families to our Year 9 Parents’ Evening, with more than 90% attendance reflecting the strength of our home-school partnership.
Looking ahead, there is plenty to look forward to as we approach the end of Module 4. Next week, more than 700 students will take part in Silver Award reward trips in recognition of their excellent attendance and behaviour, and families may also wish to note the Cambridge Harriers Open Young Athletes Trials taking place during the break. Module 4 will end on Friday, 27 March 2026, at 15:15, with students returning for the start of Module 5 on Monday, 13 April 2026, at 08:30. Thank you, as always, for your continued support.
Best wishes,
Mr Joseph Sparks | Principal, Leigh Stationers’ Academy

A Grand Addition to the Crown Building
On Monday, 16 March 2026, Leigh Stationers’ Academy took delivery of a new grand piano for the Main Hall in the Crown Building.
The purchase of the piano, costing more than £10,000, was made possible through the generous support of The Stationers’ Company. This significant donation represents a major investment in the academy’s performing arts provision and will further enhance opportunities for pupils to develop their musical talents.
The new piano will play an important role in academy life, supporting performances, rehearsals, assemblies and special events. Mr Yeates, Director of Performing Arts, said: “We are incredibly grateful to The Stationers’ Foundation for their generous support in making this possible. Music plays a vital role in the life of our academy, helping pupils to develop confidence, creativity and a sense of community. Our partnership with The Stationers’ Company has already provided so many memorable musical opportunities and events, and this grand piano will be a lasting symbol of those strong links for many years to come.”
Sixth Form Students Attend Broken Glass at the Young Vic
On Wednesday, 11 March 2026, Year 12 and Year 13 English Literature students from Leigh Stationers’ Academy visited the Young Vic Theatre in London to watch a live performance of Broken Glass by Arthur Miller.
Ms Ball, Lead Practitioner – English, said: “This trip gave our Year 12 and 13 students a fantastic opportunity to deepen their understanding of the themes they explore in their A Level studies. Seeing Broken Glass performed live helped bring together ideas from English, History and Psychology in a really powerful way, particularly around trauma, antisemitism and assimilation. It was a thought-provoking experience for our students and a wonderful example of classroom learning being brought to life.”
Students were praised by other audience members for their outstanding behaviour throughout the visit, reflecting very positively on the academy.
Strong Attendance at Year 9 Parents’ Evening
On Wednesday, 18 March 2026, Leigh Stationers’ Academy hosted its Year 9 Parents’ Evening, with more than 90% of parents and carers attending the event. In total, over 1,230 appointments were conducted across the evening, providing families with an important opportunity to meet with teachers, discuss progress and reflect on the next steps in pupils’ learning as they continue through Key Stage 3.
Ms Dooley, Deputy Principal, said: “It was wonderful to see so many of our Year 9 parents and carers in attendance. Events like this are such an important part of working together to support our young people, and it was a pleasure to see the positive conversations taking place throughout the evening. We are very grateful for the continued support of our families and staff in helping every pupil to thrive.”
The final two Parents’ Evenings of the academic year will take place on:
- Year 10 – Wednesday, 15 April 2026 | Bookings go live on Friday, 3 April 2026
- Year 7 – Wednesday, 8 July 2026 | Bookings go live on Friday, 26 June 2026
Further information about booking appointments will be shared in future latest news page updates.
